This watercolor piece captures the blossoming journey of the physalis fruit—from bud to radiant maturity. Within one of the fruits lies the Red Castle of Alanya, the city’s historic heart beating inside nature’s gift.

A migratory fruit-eating bird perches on the branch, drawn to Alanya’s vibrant beauty, with a blooming flower reflected in its eye—a symbol of love and nature’s spirit.

A trailing vine and native Turkish butterflies add movement and life to the scene, echoing the colors and rhythms of Alanya’s hidden corners.

“Bird Guardian Goddess” is the name I gave to this painting.
At the heart of the piece, a serene goddess sits upon the body of a majestic Kingfisher, surrounded by three loyal, messenger birds who speak to her in silent song.
The lotus symbols on her forehead, her body, and even her earrings, echo the sacred wisdom of ancient Mithraic traditions.
The blossoms that flow across her form are not static—they are alive, in motion—because she is the keeper of life itself.
Two tiny white birds nestled on her garment further symbolize her divine role.
The spiral motif that recurs throughout the painting marks spaces of energy flow, awakening, and portals into the spiritual realm.
Tiny fish, emblems of life, swim energetically along the Kingfisher’s back. At the painting’s center, a rotating cycle of fish spins inside a flower—symbolizing the endless wheel of life.
Miniature birds take flight among flower, dwelling in peaceful harmony with existence.
The inspiration for this piece came from a photo of two vividly colored Kingfishers in nature. At first, I envisioned only the seated goddess and a few birds around her. But as I painted, images emerged on their own.
From the feathers of the Kingfisher, shapes of swimming fish began to appear—asking to be seen, to be included. I deepened their presence in bright yellow.
Even the miniature figures in the flowers seemed to paint themselves—as if the spirit of the painting was guiding my hand. I was merely the vessel.

In this collection, love is not declared in bold words, but whispered in the margins—within the curve of a branch, in the silent flight of a small bird, in the gentle trace of a pencil, and in lines that are sometimes readable, sometimes fading, yet always carrying deep emotion.

Each piece is a blend of pencil drawings and handwritten texts that wrap around the image like a soft breeze, merging into a single voice. These writings are not mere decoration; they are part of the story. Sometimes they hide a tale, sometimes they murmur an unfinished poem, and sometimes they simply hold a meaningful silence.

In On the Margins of Love, image and word are not in opposition, but intertwined—just like love itself: at once spoken and unspeakable. This collection invites the viewer to read with both eyes and heart—a reading that may begin with the gaze of a bird and end in a hidden word among the lines.

All of this held within a single fruit—like a condensed memory of the beauty of this land.
